The Forgotten Children
Since 1880, Home of the Innocents has given refuge to "forgotten children" - those who were abandoned, unwanted, orphaned or ill. Sister Emily Cooper cared for many of them while they were at the Home. She is buried in Section A, Lots 225/227. One hundred twelve of those forgotten children died from disease or illness between 1900 and 1920 and were buried here in unmarked graves. Now, almost a century later, concerned citizens have raised funds for a memorial at this burial site and at Sister Emily Cooper's site.
